- Summary
In a previous article, I ordered wine-like soft drinks from Amazon.
This article is similar in format, but there's no wine-like aspect at all, it's simply a comparison of soft drinks found in Australia.
...That said, most of them were sold in supermarkets, so there's nothing particularly unusual.
There's even a possibility that they're sold in Japanese supermarkets, but I'll ignore that.
The Soft Drink Situation in Australia
Before getting to the main review, I'll describe how soft drinks are sold in Australian supermarkets.
Due to their sales style, it's not at all suitable for taste testing.
The reason is that small products are abnormally expensive, while large products are quite cheap.
For example, with the PRESHAFRUIT product, a 350ml bottle costs $3.40 (about 278 yen). However, 2L is sold for $7.00, which when converted to 350ml is $1.22 (about 100 yen). What kind of logistics are they doing?
Therefore, it's difficult to buy small bottles for taste testing.
Despite this, I tried taste testing a few, and I've written the reviews below.
I've deliberately not sorted them and listed them randomly.
As usual, the review results are subjective, and I tend to rate sweet things highly. If you're curious, go on a trip yourself and try them.
Soft Drink Reviews
The JUICE LAB CAPTAIN SMOOTH
- Rating: C
- Overview: A distinctive aroma, possibly cinnamon, hits the nose. Aftertaste is banana. With its mild sweetness, it's unclear when this should be drunk.
- Note: It seems like it might be healthy
The JUICE LAB LOVE POTION
- Rating: B
- Overview: It smells a lot like perfume. Apparently, there are no artificial ingredients at all, but how did they achieve this scent? It's mysterious.
- Note: You could probably use this for pronunciation practice of "LAB" and "LOVE"
Lipton ICE GREEN TEA
- Rating: B
- Overview: Black tea with a lemon flavor. It's refreshing and easy to drink, but be careful if you drink it expecting green tea based on the name.
- Note: The reliable Lipton brand
Lipton MANGO Iced Tea
- Rating: B
- Overview: The sweetness of mango is quite strong. It's not bad, but not recommended when you want something refreshing.
- Note: Reliable
Lipton PEACH Iced Tea
- Rating: B
- Overview: Well, it's a typical peach flavor.
- Note: Reliable but not particularly impressive
PRESHA FRUIT PINK LADY APPLE
- Rating: A
- Overview: It's supposed to be apple, but it tastes like pear. It has a strong fruit juice feel and is sweet, yet still refreshing.
- Note: It's cheap if you buy 1.5L
Just Juice Paradise Punch
- Rating: B
- Overview: It's admirably simple. The taste doesn't particularly stand out, but it properly fulfills its role as juice. The 6-pack of 200ml for $0.60 is also easy to buy. It's a good product that suits the purpose of "everyday juice", but the taste is ordinary, so 3 stars.
- Note: Just Juice.
REPLENISH ANTIOXIDANT INFUSION
- Rating: C
- Overview: Unusually carbonated. It's labeled as lemon flavor, but it's not sweet and tastes a bit salty like lemon peel. Slightly bitter. It has a natural feel.
- Note: More for people who like lemon peel than those who like lemon
SPARKLING COCONUT WATER MANGO AND PASSIONFRUIT
- Rating: C
- Overview: It tastes like it might be good for health. In other words, it's thin. That's unavoidable since it's coconut water. It's fairly refreshing, so it might be a substitute for flavored Ilohas. Although it's expensive.
- Note: Pure coconut water
Summary
I reviewed soft drinks found in Australia.
I didn't find many that suited my taste, but I feel like my exploration was simply insufficient.
Since it's an environment where the cost of exploration is high, it would be good to go review with multiple people.
By the way, I think it's several times better to travel normally without reviewing.
