LiEat Review

だいたい6分で読めます

Setting aside the high ratings and seemingly interesting story, I purchased LiEat because the jacket was cute.
Having completed the trilogy set, I'm writing a review encompassing all parts.

Overall rating: 0 (Worth playing)

While the graphics, characters, and world-building are excellent, other elements are thin, making it somewhat different from what I expected.
However, being short and affordable for all three works combined, it's not a loss to play this game.

Brief Overview

A dragon girl and a con artist travel together, unraveling mysteries in the story.
The girl has the ability to eat lies, which she uses to solve incidents.

It takes the form of a traditional 2D RPG, and there are battles to some extent.

Good Points

First and foremost, the quality of graphics is noteworthy.
The occasional illustrations and movies add a very nice flavor.
The pixel art, unique to 2D RPGs, is beautifully drawn and plays an important role in immersing you in the world.

Next, the character creation is well done, and I guarantee that 99 out of 100 people will check "✓ Efina was cute" in the post-completion questionnaire.
Not only is she cute, but it's also wonderful to see her gradual growth throughout the three works.

Moreover, the three works have a crisp and unified short story style.
As the mystery of origin is gradually revealed throughout, you'll be able to breeze through all three works.

Furthermore, there are good points such as the attention to detail with multiple endings, and the regular price of 298 yen for all three works, which is cheaper than a beef bowl.
Plus, the soundtrack is included. What a deal!

Not So Good Points

With the evaluation up to this point, it could have been considered an excellent short story, but there were some aspects I found questionable or unsatisfactory.

A major question was that I didn't really understand the necessity for it to be an RPG.
There's little need for exploration to "detect lies," and the puzzle-solving is so kind that there's no difficulty, so it seemed like it wouldn't have been a problem even if you couldn't move around.
Moreover, the game balance is somewhat off with battles that can be won by just holding down a button, and the weak presentation leading up to battles adds to the question of "Wouldn't a visual novel have been better...?"

As for minor points, there are also complaints such as the outdated system with no volume control, and only two screen resolution options.

Other Points

  • For some reason, only the sound settings in gallery mode are comprehensive

Summary

While there are some points that feel a bit wasteful, the strengths are very strong for a small work.
It can be said that there's no better work for a quick diversion, as it's short and cheap.
